Ssshhhh ... Key West's Best Kept Secret!

I've decided to add a whole pretty page just for this topic simply because it seems difficult to find all of the information in one convenient location anywhere the net.  And even you you do manage to find some basic information, good luck figuring out which service runs which property, and whether the townhouses are the sames as the condos ... and whether they are on Trumbo or Truman.  Ha!  You think I'm kidding?  Check out your notes.  T-R-U-M ... and hope your handwriting is legible for those last two letters or you may end up on Gulf Coast instead of the Atlantic Ocean.  Talk about messing up your plans! 

If you're wondering what on earth I'm talking about, Key West offers several lodging options (vs. standard hotels, Inns, B&Bs etc) at a discounted rate for active duty military personnel, Guard & Reservists, DOD civilians, and those (like me!) who are happily retired.  I was corresponding with a lovely lady named Sue from Patrick AFB the other day and realized that maybe it might be helpful to post the information here in one nice, neat orderly breakdown.  If I can be the go-to-gal when it comes down to sorting this out, then I'm happy to be that girl.

Navy Lodge Key West

• Located in on base at Sigsbee (New Town) – military (or retired) ID needed
• Generally described as the nicest yet most expensive of the lodging options
• Not within biking distance to Old Town (about 15 minutes away) – car or taxi would be necessary
• 2 queen beds with fully equipped kitchenette and dining area
• Walking distance to the NEX, Commissary, and Sunset Lounge
• Private beach on the Gulf Coast
• Take-out breakfast included
• Reservations can be made up to 60 days prior to arrival date

Truman Annex

  

• Next to Ft Zachary and located on base (ID card needed at the gate)
• Twin beds or one queen-sized bed with private bath (max 2 guests)
• Mini microwave and refrigerator
• Ideal for bike riding or walking to Old Town and Duval St

• Consider The Green Parrot as your “neighborhood bar”
• Reservations can be made up to 30 days prior to check-in date

• Two room options:
• Standard rooms with queen-sized beds (max 2 guests)
• Suites with one queen bed, one pull-out sofa (max 3 guests), and a small kitchenette (no stove)
• Located near Garrison Bight (opposite side of the island from Ft Zach)
• Approximately 1 mile from Duval Street
• Reservations can be made up to 30 days prior to check-in date
